LOS ANGELES - James Franco says he had planned to sing Cher's "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me" at the Academy Awards, but the number has been cut from the show.
Franco said Thursday that he's upset "for me and Cher."
The best actor nominee and Oscar co-host posted an audio clip on Twitter Tuesday of him rehearsing the tune from Cher's recent film, "Burlesque." The recording is rough and at times off-key. Franco himself is heard describing his voice as "a little growly."
His co-host, Anne Hathaway, says Franco "has a lovely singing voice," but she would not confirm whether they will perform any musical numbers together on the show.
The Academy Awards will be presented Sunday at the Kodak Theatre and broadcast on ABC.
