HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Lindsay Lohan pleaded not guilty Wednesday to felony grand theft of a $2,500 necklace.
The troubled starlet, who is currently on probation for a 2007 DUI conviction, received a stern warning after entering the plea through her attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley.
"You're in a different situation now that a felony has been filed," Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz warned Lohan, who was dressed in a skin-tight short white dress. "Everybody else has to follow the law. You're no different than anyone else. So please, don't push your luck."
Lohan, 24, posted $40,000 bail and was released shortly after the brief hearing.
The actress is accused of stealing the necklace from a Venice, Calif. jewelry store on Jan. 22. Detectives obtained a warrant last week to search her home in Venice, but before they could, the necklace was returned to the police.
If convicted, the Mean Girls star faces up to three years in state prison.
Her next hearing is set for Feb. 23.
