DALLAS — Her voice was Super Bowl material, but Christina Aguilera fell victim to a national anthem mess up.
The 30-year-old singer butchered several lyrics while belting out the anthem before Sunday's showdown between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers at Cowboys Stadium in Texas.
"What so proudly we watched at the twilight's last gleaming," sang Aguilera, who at least proved she was singing live because she never missed a beat.
The five-time Grammy winner has since apologized, saying, "I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through."
Aguilera has won praise in the past for her singing of the national anthem, including a performance at last year's NBA finals. She also previously performed at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2000.
