Two of your favorite TV blondes are taking a walk on the wild side — or should we say, the bright side? True Blood‘s Anna Paquin, 31, and Friday Night Lights‘s Aimee Teegarden, 24, both debuted bright violet dos on social media, joining a long list of celebs sporting purple-tinted hair (including Kesha, Demi Lovato, Raven-Symoné and the original lavender-locked lady, Kelly Osbourne; Nicole Richie was recently purple but just went blue).

Paquin sent off her True Blood character Sookie in style by switching up her dirty-blonde locks for a vivid shade of violet mixed with blue highlights. And of course, she was inspired by the one supernatural character she hasn’t gotten to play yet. “@Auracolorist just fulfilled my teen dream of being a mermaid. @_smoyer whatcha think?” she wrote on Twitter, soliciting an opinion from her husband (and sometime True Blood onscreen love) Stephen Moyer.
His response was super-sweet:

…Aimee Teegarden also went for a super-bright new do, although hers is a solid violet, with more of a Manic Panic vibe than Paquin’s mermaid-inspired locks. And it appears that’s just the look she was going for, writing “Whatcha think? #purplehair #diy #Selfie.” We don’t know if it’s for real or a just-for-fun at home rinse, but it makes her green eyes pop and certainly makes a statement.
