Gwen Stefani's '60s-Inspired Makeup Moment from The Voice Deserves Your Immediate Attention

By Celebrity News Wire on November 18, 2015

We’re just going to say it: Gwen Stefani‘s makeup on Tuesday’s episode of The Voice was B-A-N-A-N-A-S! The singer’s ’60s-inspired look, created by celebrity makeup artist Mary Phillips, was playful, dramatic and obviously super gorg.

Phillips, who’s been working with Stefani this season on The Voice, was the makeup pro behind the jaw-dropping Sharon Tate-inspired beauty moment, which perfectly paired with the star’s ensemble for the night: a graphic Gucci minidress and thigh-high Casadei boots.

The makeup pro gave the star a thick, winged cat eye, wrapping the liner all around her eye. And to amp up the graphic appeal, Phillips drew a thin line over Stefani’s eyelids (in the opposite direction) that connected to the end of the flick. She then coated Stefani’s lashes with lots of mascara to create a clumpy, slightly separated Twiggy-esque eye look.

To keep the drama on the eyes, Phillips kept the singer’s lips neutral, opting for a nude gloss with a lacquer-like finish.

But Tuesday night’s makeup moment only slightly topped Stefani’s graphic cat-eye look from the previous night’s episode.

Phillips, who also did the star’s makeup that night, gave Stefani a similar cat-eye look but amped up the drama with a shimmery bronze smoky eye. And for an added pop to brighten the singer’s eyes, it looks as though Phillips created a reverse cat eye with a single white liner lined on Stefani’s waterline.

Phillips completed the look with a few swipes of mascara (applied again with a heavy hand) and painted on a similar-hued nude gloss on the star’s lips to keep the eyes the focal point.
