I used to think $90 Lululemon yoga pants were fancy; that was before I knew I wanted a Karl Lagerfeld performance fleece. With the debut of Net-a-Porter's Net-a-Sporter and the September launch of Yoox's sportswear category, the fashion crowd one-upped style-conscious athletic retailers with gear that's downright chic. With that, it seems fitness is having a moment in fashion.
Maybe it started slowly with the resurgence of Tevas and the comfortable-shoe trend, but now it's taking over our entire wardrobe - and, if you're already shopping Sporter, you know it extends to every possible form of physical activity. There's something for the surfer, the ballerina, the equestrian, the golfer, the CrossFit addict, etc. Try as we might to resist adding designer sports bras to our already-crammed drawers, we have an inkling that workout attire this good might be the motivation we need to keep our SoulCycle dates.
