Over the years, we’ve gotten used to seeing January Jones as the gorgeous blonde housewife on Mad Men. But now that the show has wrapped, the star is starting to experiment with her look again (like her new pink hair hue and fresh fringe). To celebrate her style and beauty freedom, Jones, 37, transforms into multiple personalities (with the help of wigs and some gorgeous makeup) in a new spread for Violet Grey’s The V Files.

In the beauty-centric shoot, the actress (who now stars in the comedy, Last Man on Earth) wears six different looks. From “Barely There Beauty” to “Black Tie Gala” (above), Jones channels a number of characters with the help of her close friends, makeup artist Rachel Goodwin and hairstylist Mara Roszak, in order do an “elevated take on before-and-after photos and explore the idea that A LOT of women, myself included, feel less vulnerable once they’re dressed and have their make up on,” she shares.
While the star easily pulled off each of the different looks, she actually prefers going makeup-free in her downtime. “I feel sexy and vulnerable when I have no makeup on,” she tells The Violet Files.
Jones does, however, love to play with her hair, which always seems to be changing now that she’s finished filming Mad Men. “I was at my most confident as a kid,” Jones says of a recent #TBT photo she shared on Instagram. “It actually wasn’t until I got into high school and started to get quote-unquote pretty that my confidence started to disappear. So I want to give the message that girls can be proud and self-assured no matter what funky haircut they have.” (After debuting her latest mane transformation — a dusty pink hue — we can’t wait to see what other hairstyles the star has in store.)

As for the finale of Mad Men (the final season premieres on April 5th), Jones says viewers won’t see it coming. “I was surprised, but the show has always surprised me,” she shares. “Each episode is so good and sort of ties up things — not in a perfect bow, obviously — but I think the audience will be happy.”
