Lauren Conrad once professed she would “never go bob again” after rocking the style in the early ’00s, but with a little convincing from her hairstylist, the fashionista admits she learned to “never say never” — and says she’s loving her her new shorter cut.
“It’s fun to do something a little different, especially when you’ve had your hair the same way for a long time,” Conrad tells PEOPLE.

But one thing the 29-year-old quickly realized about having a textured bob: the upkeep. “It’s a little more maintenance — you can’t resort to a topknot or a quick pony, you have to do it everyday.”
So what finally changed her mind? “I sort of thought that my hair was going to look exactly the way it did the last time if I cut it short,” explains Conrad. “But I think I had a very specific cut that just was unflattering to me so I worked with my hairstylist and she was confident we could find a cut that works.”

And although Conrad’s hairstyle keeps changing, her first fashion splurge — “a classic medium-sized quilted black [Chanel] bag” — has remained one of her wardrobe staples.
“I still wear it all the time,” says Conrad of her “first big paycheck” purchase. “It’s one of those styles that’s probably never going out, so it’s a nice investment and as long as you take care of it you can wear it for a very long time.”
But the Paper Crown designer’s most recent must-have? Maxi dresses from her latest collaboration: Paper Crown and Rifle Paper Co.‘s Spring 2015 collection.
“We took [the founder of Rifle Paper Co., Anna Bond’s] prints and we put them onto garments,” explains Conrad. “Then she took those garments and put them onto paper goods. Essentially, you can buy a maxi dress and then buy a card with a girl wearing that same dress.”
The new collection, which Conrad admits she’s already wearing everywhere (including to her own wedding festivities!) — will be featured at a pop-up shop at The Grove from Feb. 13th to Feb. 15th.
“I actually wore a dress from the collection to our rehearsal dinner,” says Conrad who married husband, William Tell last September. “Then I wore a matching pair with a high-waisted short and tee to our day-after brunch so I actually wore [Paper Crown] all through the wedding.”
As for how different married life has been for the newlywed? “I don’t think it’s terribly different,” says Conrad. “I mean obviously you’re married and that’s nice, but I don’t know … we already lived together, and we’re very happy and very much a team.”
