Lily Allen Dyes Her Hair Red, Making Her the Latest to Join the 'Dark Roots, Bright Ends' Club

By Celebrity News Wire on May 30, 2014

We like to consider ourselves open-minded when it comes to bold celebrity hair moves. But one of the latest mane trends taking over Hollywood really has us scratching our heads. So we’re bringing it to the table to discuss.

Lily Allen just dyed her hair a flame-red color, but rather than go for a whole hue change, the singer kept her brunette roots and bangs, going scarlet from mid-scalp down. She’s no stranger to the whole two-tone hair trend (just a few weeks ago she was black-and-orange), but it seems like the whole dark-roots-bright-color combo is gaining traction.

In April, Katy Perry dyed her hair “slime green,” but also kept her roots and bangs dark. “I’ve wanted to go slime green for a long time. It’s springtime and I think it’s time to freshen up my look,” she said at the time. “I’m really excited about slime green, but I hope my hair doesn’t fall out.”

And of course, Kylie Jenner has sported blue tresses for a while now, debunking our theories that it was a wash-out situation. (We just hope she doesn’t look back at Kim’s wedding day photos with any regrets.)

Maybe the dark roots thing is a nod to the ’90s (and they’re back in a big way), but we have to ask: Would you try the trend? Whose style do you like best? Sound off below!
