Eva Longoria was born in Corpus Christi, Texas. The daughter of Mexican-American parents, Longoria has three older sisters — Liza, Emily and Esmeralda. Living and working on farmland that had been handed down to them from past generations, Longoria’s family struggled financially during her childhood.
Longoria’s first break came in 1988 when she captured her hometown's Miss Corpus Christi beauty pageant, which afforded her the chance to compete in a Los Angeles talent show that she went on to win.
Longoria would remain in L.A. and start going on auditions, eventually making her debut as a flight attendant on a 2000 episode of "Beverly Hills, 90210." Following a small guest part on "General Hospital," Longoria landed her first recurring role in 2001, starring as Isabella on "The Young and the Restless" for two seasons.
In 2003, Longoria signed on for the second season of ABC's short-lived series, "L.A. Dragnet."
One year later, Longoria skyrocketed to fame when she landed the role of Gabrielle Solis on the immediate smash-hit ABC series "Desperate Housewives."
