HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The stars turned out Sunday night for a screening of “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire” at the 2009 AFI Fest at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, Calif.
The dark urban drama, which opens in theaters Friday, follows Clareece “Precious” Jones, an overweight, illiterate and abused Harlem teen who is pregnant with her second child and invited to enroll in an alternative school in hopes that her life will head in a new direction. The movie was executive produced by Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry.
Among the film’s stars on hand were Gabourey Sidibe, Mo’Nique, Paula Patton, Mariah Carey and Sherri Shepherd.
