HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — ABC has won the bidding war for a new television series starring Matthew Perry.
The comedy project developed by Perry hit the marketplace this week, with ABC and NBC battling it out, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Perry will star as a self-involved manager of a second-rate sports arena who begins to reevaluate his life when he turns 40 — a milestone the actor reached in August.
The former Chandler Bing character becomes the second "Friends" star to land on the network, following Courteney Cox whose new comedy "Cougar Town" premiered last month.
Perry's last significant small screen role was on the short-lived NBC sitcom Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, which went off the air after one season in 2007.
