HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Gerard Butler has been accused of punching a member of the paparazzi, according to Reuters.
Los Angeles police officials say the 38-year-old actor is currently under investigation after a photographer filed a police report, accusing the "300" star of punching him several times in the face early Tuesday morning.
According to celebrity gossip site TMZ, the incident happened shortly after Butler left a bar and the photographer was tailing him. The photographer says Butler eventually got out of his car and proceeded to punch him three of four times. The force was reportedly enough to send him to the hospital, where he received stitches for cuts to his lip.
Others have told TMZ a different story, saying the paparazzi in question was driving "recklessly" as he "chased" after Butler, nearly striking several pedestrians along the way.
Butler, a native of Scotland, attended the premiere of his latest film, "RocknRolla," in Los Angeles on Monday. The film also stars Tom Wilkinson, Thandie Newton, Idris Elba and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges.
