HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Sean Young has entered rehab to battle ongoing problems with alcohol.
“Actress Sean Young voluntarily admitted herself yesterday to a rehabilitation center for treatment related to alcoholism,” a statement from Insignia PR said today. “It is understood that Young has struggled against the disease for many years.”
The announcement comes on the heels of an incident at last Saturday’s Directors Guild of America Awards when she heckled Julian Schnabel, director of “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly,” during his acceptance speech. A rattled Schnabel scanned the room and asked who said that, then spotted Young and suggested that she “have another cocktail.”
The 48-year-old Young was escorted from the ballroom at the Hyatt Regency in Century City following the exchange.
Young also made headlines in 2006 when she attempted to crash the Vanity Fair Oscar party, only to get ejected from there as well.
“It was degrading,” Young told Entertainment Weekly last September of the attempted Oscar crash. “But when you have nothing to lose, it’s really not that big of a deal.”
Young, best known for her roles in “No Way Out,” “Fatal Attraction” and “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” has two children with her former husband, Robert Lujan.
