HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Ali Fedotowsky is jumping for joy after being chosen for the starring role on ABC's The Bachelorette.
"I'm so excited," she told host Chris Harrison on Monday night's Bachelor After the Final Rose special, where she was officially announced as the star for the upcoming sixth installment of the franchise. "I'm so thrilled and honored and grateful ... I feel so blessed."
The 25-year-old advertising account manager was a front-runner for Bachelor Jake Pavelka's heart. However, she famously left the show when presented with an ultimatum to return to work or risk losing her job. She still regrets the decision but is confident that she won't make the same mistake twice.
"I'm not going to let my fear dictate my life anymore," said the San Francisco resident, who moved to California in 2006 after graduating from Clark University in New England. "I want to find someone and I want to be in love and I want to get married and have kids and all of that and this is my chance so I'm not going to make the same mistake."
Fedotowsky joked that she wanted "50 guys" instead of the usual 25 to choose from. As for what she's looking for in a future husband, the Massachusetts native said she didn't have a particular "type" in mind.
"I want a funny, smart, kind of quirky guy," she said. "I don't really need anything in particular. I'm not looking for a type of guy, I'm looking for a feeling."
The next season of The Bachelorette premieres May 24 on ABC.
