Alicia Keys, Coldplay, Eagles Lead 2008 American Music Award Nominations

Alicia KeysHOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Alicia Keys racked up five nods, including artist of the year, to pace the field of 2008 American Music Award nominations announced Tuesday.

Competing against the 28-year-old singer for artist of the year honors will be rock bands Coldplay and the Eagles, in addition to R&B star Chris Brown and rapper Lil Wayne.

The Eagles and Coldplay both earned four nominations to finish second behind Keys. Brown and Lil Wayne had three nods apiece.

For the second straight year, winners will be determined through online voting, with votes accepted until Nov. 7.

The American Music Awards, which will once again be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will take place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Nov. 23.

This year's scheduled AMA performers will include the Jonas Brothers, Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Pink, Taylor Swift, New Kids on the Block and the Pussycat Dolls.
