CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have released a pair of 911 calls related to the death of Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry.
On Wednesday, the NFL star was discovered lying on a south Charlotte road with "life-threatening injuries" after he fell out of the back of a pickup truck driven by his fiancée, Loleini Tonga. Police say the couple was involved in a domestic dispute at the time.
In one call, an unidentified woman tells the dispatcher that she's driving behind a yellow truck with "a black man on it with no shirt on, and he's got his arm in a cast and black pants on."
"He's beating on the back of this truck window... I don't know if he's trying to break in or something. It just looks crazy. It's a girl driving it," she said.
In the second 911 call, an unidentified male tells the operator: "I need an ambulance now because's there's somebody laying in the road."
Henry, 26, was pronounced dead at 6:36 a.m. EST Thursday.
