HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Melissa Rycroft is bouncing back from heartbreak by hitting the dance floor.
According to published reports, the jilted "Bachelor" star will take over for the injured Nancy O'Dell when "Dancing With the Stars" kicks off its eighth season on Monday night.
ABC announced last Thursday that both the "Access Hollywood" host and singer Jewel were withdrawing from the reality show due to injuries suffered while training for the competition.
The 43-year-old O'Dell, who was matched with dancing pro Tony Dovolani, has a torn meniscus. The 34-year-old Jewel, meanwhile, was diagnosed with a fractured tibia in both legs. She was paired with pro dancer Dmitry Chaplin.
While the 25-year-old Rycroft is taking over on short notice, her past background as a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader should come in handy.
Jason Mesnick proposed to Rycroft on last week's "Bachelor" season finale, only to break up with her on the "After the Final Rose" special.
As for Jewel, it is widely believed that "Girl Next Door" star Holly Madison will be taking over for her.
ABC has yet to comment on either of the reported cast additions.
