HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Beyoncé Knowles has finally broken her silence about Kanye West famously interrupting Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at last month's MTV Video Music Awards.
"Well, I knew his intentions, and I knew he was standing up for art; and he told me before, when they said the nominees, he's like, 'You have this award,'" Knowles told O: The Oprah Magazine editor Gayle King Friday at Billboard magazine's annual Women in Music event, according to MTV News.
"When they didn't call my name he was, like, completely shocked," continued the 28-year-old singer, who received the coveted Woman of the Year Award. "And when he walked on the stage, I was like, 'No, no, no!' and then he spoke, and I was like, 'Oh, no, no, no!'"
Swift later had her moment when Knowles invited her onstage to finish her acceptance speech for best female video. At the time, the music diva was picking up the night's top honor for video of the year.
"In the end, it ended up being a great night, and Taylor Swift did get her moment — and I didn't have to make an acceptance speech, said Knowles."
