HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — It appears there isn't too much going on between Blake Lively and Penn Badgley of the hit WB show "Gossip Girl."
"Everybody always tries to dig into your personal life or create things that aren't there... It's silly," Lively tells People magazine of the costars romance rumors. "Any male friend is obviously a 'romance alert' [for the media], but I've always been friends with boys my whole life."
Lively, who was born into a showbiz family, is certainly capable of handling the media attention attached to being a star. The 20-year-old actress made her film debut at age 10 as the Tooth Fairy in the indie film, "Sandman" in 1998. The film was directed by her father, Ernie Lively, a well-known character actor with over 100 screen credits.
"[I] just try not to listen to what people say," Lively says. "At least for me it's important — because I'm so close with my family and my friends — to keep core people around me that know the truth about everything."
One of the more vicious rumors about the young star was that she had plastic surgery shortly before "Gossip Girl" began.
"People just wanna talk," she said. "They wanna create negative things about you and your life and make up things. You can't let them affect you!"
