SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Actor Brandon Routh, best known for his role of Superman in "Superman Returns," married his girlfriend of more than four years, actress Courtney Ford, on Saturday. The couple exchanged their vows at a ranch in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Movie producer Mindy Peters hosted the 150-guest wedding at her 3,000-acre El Capitan Ranch along with her husband, Jon Peters, producer of "Superman Returns."
According to People, the bride wore a Junko Yoshioka sheath dress with Chantilly lace and platinum beading and topped off her look with pave-diamond earrings by Neil Lane — fitting since her engagement ring is also by Neil Lane. The groom traded in his tights and cape for a cashmere suit by Looysen Fine Clothing.
Routh, 28, proposed to Ford, 29, in Glastonbury, England, during last summer's "Superman" press tour. But the lovebirds kept the news hush-hush until he was done promoting the film. "They were so excited! It was hard to keep it to themselves," a family friend told People.
According to sources, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger closed airspace above the ranch, keeping the prying paparazzi at a safe distance from the event.
The couple met while Routh was bartending at the Lucky Strike Bowling Alley for Ford's mother's wedding reception. In honor of how they met, Routh and his groomsmen went bowling the night before the wedding.
