HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The people closest to Britney Spears are coming to the pop star's defense after she was accused of abusing her two young sons, Preston, 4, and Jayden, 3.
Fernando Flores, a former Spears bodyguard, told London's The Sun newspaper that he witnessed the "3" singer beating one of her sons with a belt and that she gave them both food they were allergic to, making them violently ill. He claims the child abuse took place in March or April 2009.
The Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services reportedly sent social workers to the 28-year-old starlet's home as a result of the allegations, which is a routine procedure after a child abuse report is filed.
Those closest to Spears insist she's an excellent mother and say Flores is simply trying to retaliate after being fired from his position.
"Britney is quite the opposite – she doesn't discipline them enough and she will do anything to keep the boys happy," one source tells People. "There are issues with Britney, but her abusing the boys are not one of them."
Another insider adds, "It's ridiculous what the guy is claiming. It never happened."
