HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — It appears Britney Spears and her paparazzi boyfriend Adnan Ghalib aren't ready to call it quits.
On Tuesday, Ghalib took to the airways to shed light on his relationship with the 26-year-old pop star, telling Entertainment Tonight and The Insider that the relationship is "far from over."
Ghalib, whose wife filed for separation yesterday, also insisted that he wasn't paid for the two-part interview and that he didn't get attached to Spears as a way to sell pictures. "No, never," he insisted. "In time I think people will understand that."
The 35-year-old paparazzo, who says the relationship "turned romantic" before Christmas, also spoke out on a number of hot topics surrounding Spears in recent weeks.
On her hospitalization following a Jan. 3 standoff with police: "She didn't understand why she was taken to the hospital," he said. "She didn't feel the need to be there." With regards to the photographs of Spears laughing while being wheeled out on a gurney, Ghalib says, "I think she was just afraid of what was going to happen. It doesn't mean you are crazy."
On the now famous photographs (the photos of the Rite Aid visit were sold by his own photo agency — FinalPixx) of Spears buying a pregnancy test: "She has a very maternal instinct," he revealed. "She was feeling a lot of things she said she felt when she was pregnant. I think she was hoping she was pregnant with my child."
On Spears losing visitation rights to see her two kids: "Her primary focus is on re-establishing a relationship with [them]," he said. "She doesn't talk about a strategy to get them back. That's something that's very private to her. She loves those kids — it pains her a lot "
On the singer's mental state: "She is not crazy at all," he said. "She never has suicidal tendencies. You've got to understand the love she has for her kids outweighs anything else."
When asked if he wants to marry Spears, the 35-year-old shutterbug replied, "I'd be lying if I said no."
Meanwhile, in other Brit news, OK! magazine is reporting that Spears and her legal team have called an emergency hearing for Wednesday morning at L.A. Superior Court, and that she has agreed to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
Spears has refused to undergo an evaluation on several occasions in the past, but she is agreeing this time on the grounds that she be allowed to visit with her boys, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, during the evaluation.
She is reportedly asking that the visitation be court-supervised and that it take place in a "therapeutic environment."
