HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Britney Spears took a hands-on approach when it came to designing her new limited edition apparel and accessories collection for Candie's.
"First, I met with the Candie's designers and told them what my favorite styles are. Then, we sketched the items together," Spears tells InStyle about her collection, which exclusively arrives in Kohl's stores on July 1. "I loved it when I saw the samples for the first time."
"My personal style is mix of comfortable and flirty," she added. "I love cute little dresses but I also love comfy sweaters and jeans."
Spears will appear in the national print, TV and and online campaign for Kohl's, featuring the 28-year-old star wearing the collection along with personal handwritten notes such as, "You'll love these jeans!" and "Love this skirt for dancing...fun & flirty." The singer said she tried to incorporate several trends in her collection, including studs.
"I used a lot of studs and lace, because I wanted to make the clothes cool and edgy yet girly," she explained. "I also love jeans, so I had to make sure there were some great pairs in the collection. And I love jewelry so there are a lot of fun pieces. There are great necklaces and big earrings."
So what are some of her favorite designs?
"I love the black trench coat. You can wear it over your outfit or as a dress," said Spears. "There's also an amazing studded skirt that's perfect for going out."
