HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Britney Spears will soon have more in common with Madonna than just a passionate kiss.
After months of speculation, Glee creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that the hit Fox musical series is working on a Spears-themed episode.
No other details about the episode, including whether Spears will actually appear on the show, were revealed.
The singer's camp made a Twitter pitch for Glee after a Madonna episode in April pulled in more than 13 million viewers. The proposal, led by her manager, Adam Leber, received a less than warm welcome from series star Matthew Morrison, who told Us Weekly: "I hope our show doesn't go along that route."
Murphy also revealed that a big post-Super Bowl episode is being planned for next year. As for the subject, he would only say that a guess of Michael Jackson was "close."
Glee was a top Emmy nominee Thursday with 19 bids, including a nod for best comedy series.
