MIAMI — Carrie Underwood will sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl next weekend in Miami, organizers announced Thursday.
The country music star will be proceeded by Queen Latifah, who will perform "America the Beautiful" during the pregame festivities at Sun Life Stadium on Feb. 7.
Underwood joins an elite group of stars who have belted out the Super Bowl National Anthem, including Billy Joel, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, Whitney Houston, Harry Connick, Jr., Garth Brooks, Natalie Cole, Vanessa Williams, Luther Vandross, Cher, Faith Hill, Mariah Carey, Dixie Chicks, Beyoncé Knowles and Jennifer Hudson.
The Indianapolis Colts will square off against the New Orleans Saints in Super Bowl XLIV. The NFL previously announced that The Who will perform during the halftime festivities.
More than 151 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year's Super Bowl, making it the most-watched television program in history. This year's game will be broadcast worldwide to more than 230 countries and territories.
