HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Chace Crawford won't be hitting the dance floor after all.
The 24-year-old actor has dropped out of Paramount's Footloose remake, his rep confirmed to Entertainment Weekly.
It is the second casting blow for the 1984 dance classic reboot, which previously lost Zac Efron over typecasting fears.
Sources tell EW that the studio will now likely cast an unknown for the role first made famous by Kevin Bacon, perhaps through a nationwide search.
Insiders say Crawford was forced to exit due to his Gossip Girl schedule, which would conflict with the film's planned production this summer.
Crawford's departure is the third blow to the project. Original director Kenny Ortega also departed the film last fall, citing exhaustion from his work on Michael Jackson's concert film, This Is It.
