SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Randy Quaid is off the hook after skipping multiple hearings in a case that saw him and his wife accused of skipping out on an expensive hotel bill.
Prosecutors dropped felony charges against the 59-year-old actor at a court hearing Wednesday in Santa Barbara, Calif., the Associated Press reports.
His wife, Evi, was less fortunate. She was slapped with a three-year probation sentence after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor count of defrauding an innkeeper. The actor's wife will also have to perform 240 hours of community service.
The eccentric couple was sent to jail on Monday for missing multiple hearings in the case. They were arrested last September and charged with skipping out on a $10,000 hotel bill they rang up during a summer stay at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara.
Quaid is perhaps best known for his roles in National Lampoon's Vacation movies, in which he starred as Cousin Eddie.
