RHINEBECK, N.Y. — Chelsea Clinton has tied the knot!
The former First Daughter married her longtime boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky in a lavish wedding ceremony held Saturday in Rhinebeck, N.Y., the Associated Press reports.
More than 400 guests were on hand for the evening wedding, which took place at an exclusive estate along New York's Hudson River called Astor Courts. Clinton wore a strapless white gown designed by Vera Wang, a family friend who attended the ceremony. Other celebrities in attendance included actor Ted Danson and his wife, actress Mary Steenburgen.
Proud parents Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton released a statement after their daughter married the investment banker.
"Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends," the Clintons said. "We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family. On behalf of the newlyweds, we want to give special thanks to the people of Rhinebeck for welcoming us and to everyone for their well-wishes on this special day."
Clinton, 30, and Mezvinsky, 32, have been friends since childhood. They went on to attend Stanford University together and began dating in 2005. Their engagement was confirmed last November.
Mezvinsky is the son of former Iowa congressman Ed Mezvinsky and former Pennsylvania congresswoman Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinksy.
