HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Chris Harrison is opening up about the Bachelor affair scandal in which one of the show's producers got cozy with a contestant during filming of the 14th season, which premieres tonight on ABC.
"It was incredibly unfortunate. Horrible decisions were made," admitted the reality show host on Monday's Valentine in the Morning radio show. "This is something that we took very seriously and it's something that we couldn't just sit by."
Harrison said the producer was fired and the contestant was kicked off the show, which returns to the air with Jake Pavelka as the star this time around.
"In fairness to Jake and for the other women, [we said], 'Let's nip this in the bud and take care of it.' And that's what we did," he told host Sean Valentine.
While he's used to drama playing out on the Bachelor and Bachelorette, Harrison admitted this scandal was new territory for him.
"This was the rare time that before I had to go talk to the girl, Jake and then the women, I had lawyers, psychologists, producers, executives saying, 'Okay, these are the words you can say,' " he said. "It was intense. It was a wild night."
When asked if the pair are still together, Harrison said he didn't know.
"Would that count on our tally as one of our couples?" he joked.
