HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Corey Haines became a popular Google trend in the hours after word began spreading over the Internet about Corey Haim's death.
Haim, who shot to fame in the 1987 movie The Lost Boys, was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, Calif. He was 38.
The former teen idol was rushed to the hospital by ambulance after falling ill at his Los Angeles apartment.
The actor, whose career was sidelined by drug problems, had flulike symptoms that he was treating with prescription medications in the days leading up to his death, authorities said.
Haim won rave reviews for his title role in the 1986 film Lucas. He followed that with The Lost Boys and License to Drive, in which he appeared alongside his frequent co-star, Corey Feldman.
The pair recently reunited in the A&E reality series The Two Coreys, which was canceled in 2008 after two seasons.
