HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Corey Haim's death was the result of natural causes and officials have ruled out drugs as a contributing factor, the Los Angeles County Coroner announced Tuesday.
The 38-year-old actor died from pneumonia complicated by an enlarged heart, bad lungs and narrowed blood vessels, according to an autopsy report obtained by the Associated Press.
Coroner's spokesman Craig Harvey said eight drugs, including both prescription medications and marijuana, were found in the former teen heartthrob's system, but "nothing was at a level that would have contributed to his death."
In the days leading up to his tragic passing on March 10, Haim was suffering from flulike symptoms that he was treating with over-the-counter and prescription medications.
"The pneumonia is what killed him," Harvey said.
Haim, who long battled substance abuse issues, was laid to rest in his hometown of Toronto on March 16.
