HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Courtney Love has been slapped with a lawsuit over her late husband Kurt Cobain's music.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the management firm London & Co. filed a suit against the 44-year-old Love in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, alleging she failed to pay commissions for the partial sale of her share of the Nirvana publishing catalogue.
London & Co. claims in their suit that they were to be paid 5% of the revenues that Love received when she sold a portion of the catalogue for $19.5 million last year. They are seeking $975,000, in addition to court costs.
"I'm aware there's an issue between London Co. and Courtney, but I have not seen the lawsuit," Love's attorney, Howard Weitzman, told the Reporter.
Love and Cobain first met in 1990, when both singers were still chasing fame. They started dating a year later and married on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1992. The couple would welcome a daughter, Frances Bean, later that same year in August.
The Nirvana frontman died of a self-inflicted gunshot on April 8, 1994.
