HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Billy Corgan is gushing over his girlfriend, Veronicas singer Jessica Origliasso.
"She's a really beautiful person inside and out," the 43-year-old Smashing Pumpkins frontman tells The Daily Telegraph, adding, "I was in a good place and that's why I ended up in a good relationship."
Corgan says the twosome have a lot in common, even though he is 18 years older than Origliasso.
"Both of us have been in stormy relationships," he says. "You've got to be ready to be in a great relationship. Being with someone as beautiful and talented as Jess is you've gotta be real. You can't be a fake version of something. In our lives in a lot of ways it's all about fake. You've got people wanting things for fake reasons. The people you end up closest to are your family and friends. We both understand what it's like to be not really understood. We have that support for each other and understand what each other are going through. It's only made my life better."
"She's brought a lot of sunshine in my life, but I was ready to receive it," continues Corgan. "The window was open. If she'd met me a few years ago I don't know if I would have understood her, she's just such a unique person, there's not a lot of people I've ever met who are like her. You look at her, she works the homeless glam look, but inside she's just a sweetie pie. She's very spiritual, very much about family. We both have Italian background, we laugh and say this is really an Italian relationship."
Prior to dating Origliasso, Corgan was linked to another Jessica – Jessica Simpson. When asked if they were an item, the rocker says he has no interest in "feeding that fire."
"She's a great person," he says of Simpson. "I care about her as a person, I have nothing bad to say about her, she's a lovely person behind the scenes."
As for Origliasso, Corgan says he couldn't be any happier.
"I'm in a good place, I'm happy, I'm proud to have a woman like her on my arm," he says. "She's someone I really look up to."
