CHICAGO — Donald Trump says he's happy to help by offering Jennifer Hudson and her family a free suite at Chicago's Trump International Hotel & Tower.
"She's a great girl. And we're protecting them well," the real-estate mogul told People Monday at a benefit honoring "Australia" director Baz Luhrman at the Museum of Modern Art. "They are very safe."
E! Online first reported that the "Apprentice" host had offered a safe haven for Hudson after her mother, brother and nephew were found murdered in Chicago on Oct. 24.
The 27-year-old singer, who first rose to fame on "American Idol," is said to be holding up as best she can thanks to her fiancé, David Otunga.
"David's been by her side through this whole tragedy," a family source told E! "He has totally been there for her."
