HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end.
Such was the case for the cast of "High School Musical," which recently wrapped shooting on the third installment of the hit franchise. As expected, it was an emotional farewell for the cast, which includes Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel and Ashley Tisdale.
"We went into the last day thinking, 'It'll all be fine 'cause we're all really good friends and we're so close,' " Tisdale revealed Thursday night on Access Hollywood's "The Billy Bush Show." "It wasn't even the last scene — we couldn't even get through it. We were crying and just so emotional over the whole thing."
Like her fellow castmates, several doors have opened for Tisdale since "HSM" debuted on January 20, 2006. In April, it was revealed that the New Jersey native was closing in on a deal with FremantleMedia North America, in which she would produce various projects for the production shop. The young star also recently completed shooting her first feature film, "They Came From Upstairs," which is due in theaters next year.
With plenty of projects in the pipeline, Tisdale admits the original cast is "moving on."
"I heard they're going to do a 'High School Musical 4,' but we have nothing to do with it," she said.
With "HSM 3" due to be released in theaters for the first time in October, Tisdale acknowledged the end was tougher than she expected. However, the emotional farewell isn't surprising when you consider the Disney hit propelled each of the stars into instant fame overnight.
"We're so attached to each other," admitted Tisdale, who stars as Drama Club co-president Sharpay Evans.
"We've had such fun doing these movies. It's like working with your best friends all the time," the 23-year-old actress continued. "It's definitely something that's tough to leave and say goodbye to."
