HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The Illinois man who secretly shot nude videos of ESPN reporter Erin Andrews was sentenced Monday to 2 1/2 years in prison, the Associated Press reports.
Michael David Barrett, 48, pleaded guilty in December to interstate stalking. The insurance executive admitted that he rented hotel rooms next to Andrews on three occasions in 2008 and proceeded to shoot two peephole videos of her while she was naked.
Andrews argued in court that Barrett should be heavily punished.
"You violated me and you violated all women," she told Barrett. "You are a sexual predator, a sexual deviant and they should lock you up."
"It's my body on the Internet," added Andrews. "I'm being traumatized every single day for what he did. ... This will never be over for me."
The nude peephole scandal swept the Web last July when Barrett's videos first surfaced, just days after Andrews appeared at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles. He was arrested three months later at Chicago's O'Hare airport.
