HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Eva Mendes has checked out of the Cirque Lodge rehab facility — temporarily.
"Eva is attending to some personal business in Los Angeles and intends to return to complete her treatment shortly," the 33-year-old actress's rep disclosed in a statement Thursday.
Mendes is said to have entered the Utah facility several weeks ago. Cirque Lodge has treated several stars recently, including Lindsay Lohan and Mary-Kate Olsen. Earlier today, it was reported that fellow actress Kirsten Dunst had checked into Cirque Lodge.
Mendes has reportedly been battling a substance abuse problem, including cocaine use, sources close to the actress reveal in the latest issue of Us Weekly.
"She kept it all behind closed doors and wasn't really a mess in public," an insider tells Usmagazine.com.
According to the report, Mendes fell victim to the pressures of Hollywood and began partying too often at Hollywood club Teddy's. Her longtime boyfriend, producer George Augusto, was a former DJ at the club, which is located inside the Roosevelt Hotel.
"She has a lot of low self-esteem and body issues," a friend of the actress says.
But another source adds, "She pulled away from that crowd last year to focus on her career. She wants to be healthy."
Mendes worked her way up through commercials to music videos (including an appearance in Will Smith's video "Miami") before making a name for herself when she co-starred with Denzel Washington in 2001's "Training Day." She went on to work with Smith on the big screen, playing his love interest in the 2005 comedy "Hitch."
Mendes, who was born in Miami and raised in Los Angeles, was most recently seen on the big screen in the crime drama "We Own the Night."
The Cuban-American actress, who was recently signed to appear in an upcoming ad campaign for a Calvin Klein fragrance, will next star this fall in a remake of the stage and screen comedy "The Women," co-starring Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Bette Midler.
