PARIS — French police are investigating a fight that broke out Thursday between camouflaged paparazzi and security at the southern France home of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
According to the Associated Press, the two photographers, made it onto the grounds of the couple's French chateau, where they were confronted by the stars' security team. A tussle ensued, leaving both sides bloody and bruised.
One of the paparazzi, identified as freelance photographer Luc Goursolas, told AP that he broke one guard's finger and bit another until he started bleeding. He said the guards attacked him and at one point struck him with a walkie-talkie in the head, causing a wound that required three stitches.
"I was pouring blood. I threw myself at them, put blood all over them, and told them that I had HIV so they would stop hitting me," the snapper told AP.
The couple's security team offered a completely different account, telling AP that Goursolas wasn't even provoked and that he went "berserk."
Both sides also offered different accounts of where the fight took place, with Goursolas saying he was in a nearby woods area and not even on the couple's property.
Both sides filed legal complaints accusing the other of battery and causing injury. A judge will eventually rule on whether the complaints will be pursued, AP says.
Goursolas alleged that Pitt approached him following the incident.
"He told me, 'What you are doing is bad, I am fed up with my private property being violated' ... and then he said, 'If you want war you will get it,'" he recounted to AP.
Jolie and Pitt returned to their home last weekend following the July 12 birth of their baby twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline.
In the end, the guards received doctors' notes, which gave them four days off from work. The photographers weren't as fortunate.
