HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — George Clooney has denied a report by Britain’s Marie Claire that claims he proposed to girlfriend Sarah Larson.
An article posted Monday on the Marie Claire Web site quoted a restaurant worker in Laglio, the Italian town where the Oscar winner has a villa, as saying Clooney and Larson are now engaged.
“They haven’t made any announcement yet, but there are people in this town who know more than me,” the worker was quoted as saying. “They say the couple are already engaged.”
However, the claims made in the story were quickly dismissed as false rumors.
“There is no truth to any element of the story,” the 46-year-old star’s rep tells Usmagazine.com.
Clooney met the 28-year-old Larson while she was working as a cocktail waitress at the Palms Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. The couple have been dating for about a year.
Larson, who once won an episode of “Fear Factor” with her former boyfriend Dan Randolph, stepped out with Clooney for the first time at last fall’s Venice and Deauville film festivals. Soon thereafter, the couple were involved in a well-publicized motorcycle accident in New York City.
