HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — George Clooney is returning to his roots.
The 47-year-old actor is expected to reprise his role of Dr. Doug Ross on "ER," the NBC series that launched his career, a source tells Access Hollywood.
Clooney shot to fame thanks to the medical drama, which debuted in 1994. In March, he denied reports of a possible return to the series, which is bowing out this season.
But a change of heart has reportedly led the Oscar winner back to the show, where he is expected to shoot his scenes on Thursday and Friday, the source tells Access.
According to Radar Online, Clooney's character will be featured in at least one scene practicing medicine at a Seattle hospital. He is also scheduled to shoot a scene at County General, his old stomping grounds.
Sources revealed to People that "ER" co-creator John Wells has ordered a closed set to keep the Oscar winner's appearance under wraps.
Wells has lobbied for Clooney's return for years.
