LONDON — George Michael has his "freedom" back.
The 47-year-old singer was released from jail Monday after serving almost four weeks of an eight-week sentence for driving under the influence of drugs, the Associated Press reports.
"I just want to start again," the singer told reporters after being set free.
Michael, whose real name is Georgios Panayiotou, was sent to jail on Sept. 14 after pleading guilty to driving under the influence and possession of cannabis. Police found the music star slumped at the wheel of his Range Rover after he crashed into a branch of Snappy Snaps in Hampstead in the early hours of July 4.
The former Wham! star, who lost his license for five years, will serve the remainder of his sentence on parole.
