HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The junior golf circuit could get interesting real soon.
Golf legend Annika Sorenstam is pregnant and expecting her first child with husband Mike McGee, the former champ announced Thursday on her official Web site.
"Mike and I are very pleased to announce that we [are] expecting our first child," wrote the Swedish star, who stepped away from competitive golf last year. "We have had a lot of exciting changes in the past few months, and adding a new addition to our family later this fall will certainly be at the top of that list."
Sorenstam and McGee married in January at the Lake Nona Golf and Country Club in Orlando.
"We are absolutely thrilled and look forward to this new chapter of our lives," added the LPGA's all-time money leader.
The 38-year-old Sorenstam did not reveal when her baby is due or whether she's expecting a boy or girl. Either way, her arrival should provide some competition for Tiger Woods, who welcomed his second child in February.
