LONDON — Guy Ritchie's mom, Lady Amber Leighton, is speaking out following last week's report that her son's marriage to Madonna was headed for divorce.
"I spoke to Guy this morning," Leighton told The Daily Mail on Friday. "There's no conversation about divorce because there is no divorce. They are not getting divorced; the speculation is TT — that's total tosh."
Last week, The Times of London reported that Madonna had engaged in discussions with high-powered British attorney Fiona Shackleton, who recently represented Beatles legend Paul McCartney in his well-publicized divorce battle with Heather Mills.
A rep for the "4 Minutes" singer responded to the report by telling Access Hollywood, "No comment at this time."
Madonna and Ritchie were married on Dec. 22, 2000 in Scotland. They have two children together, 7-year-old Rocco Ritchie, and 21-month-old David Banda, 21 whom they adopted in Malawi in 2006. Their newest addition's adoption was finalized just last month.
Madonna also has a daughter, Lourdes, 11, from a previous relationship with fitness instructor Carlos Leon.
Madonna, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March, is thought to be worth nearly $600 million. It is believed that she and Richie do not have a prenuptial agreement, The Times said.
Despite his mom's statements to the contrary, Richie was seen boarding a flight to New York on Monday, minus his wedding ring, according to Us Weekly.
Madonna is currently in New York, where she reportedly attended Sabbath services at the Kabbalah Centre on Friday and Saturday, also without a wedding ring.
