HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — It turns out Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry actually split well before their broken romance made headlines last week.
A rep for the actress tells People that the pair's breakup actually happened "some time" ago, adding they "remain friends and committed parents" to their 2-year-old daughter, Nahla.
So who ended the relationship? An insider says it was Berry, 43, who pulled the plug after four years together.
"She kicked him out months ago because he wasn't able to pull his weight in the relationship and she wanted to move on," a source close to the pair told People. "They're very amicable in healthy ways because of their child. Her main concern is for the health and happiness of her daughter."
The Oscar-winning star and the Canadian model first met at a Versace shoot in late 2005.
After two high-profile divorces, Berry has repeatedly voiced her desire to never marry again. Her marriage to former baseball star David Justice ended in 1997 after five years of marriage. She then divorced R&B singer Eric Benet in 2005 after four years, amidst reports of infidelity on his part.
