HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Heidi Montag isn't overly worried about Lauren Conrad leaving "The Hills."
In an interview with MTV News, the 22-year-old Montag says the show must go on.
"I think this is just the beginning," Montag said of the hit MTV series, which kicks off its fifth season Monday night.
As for her co-star's recent decision to explore new horizons, Montag told MTV: "We don't need her. We'll miss her. I just don't know if we need her."
Montag also said her former BFF's decision to leave wasn't much of a shock.
"I'm not surprised she's leaving," she admitted. "I know she hasn't been wanting to be do this for a while, and [the life she really leads] is not on camera. So I think it's a closing chapter for her. I'm sure she'll have fun and success."
"She's gotta leave the dramas to the pros!" she added.
With Audrina Patridge also leaving the series, many have questioned whether the show can survive without two of its leading stars. For her part, Montag said she's in it for the long haul.
"I love 'The Hills' and I definitely don't want to go anywhere anytime soon," she said. "That's my home and I'm so grateful to be on it, so we'll see."
