NEW YORK — Demi Moore tossed an A-list bash for her hubby Ashton Kutcher, who turned 30 on Feb. 7. Unfortunately, a portion of the party took place at the New York hotspot Socialista, which is now the center of a Hepatitis A health scare.
Ashton's star-filled party, which included the likes of Madonna, Kate Hudson and Demi's ex husband Bruce Willis, started with a birthday dinner at the restaurant Gemma, inside New York City's Bowery Hotel.
Among the dinner-guest crowd were Willis and his model-girlfriend Emma Heming, Salma Hayek and her fiancé François-Henri Pinault, producer Guy Oseary and Madonna, who belted out her own rendition of "Happy Birthday" to the "Punk'd" mastermind.
Following dinner, the group ventured over to the Cuban lounge Socialista, which is located in West Village. Joining the festivities there were Eric Dane and his wife Rebecca Gayheart, along with Lucy Liu, Liv Tyler and fashion designer Roberto Cavalli.
Unfortunately, the New York City Health Department announced today that one of the bartenders serving at Socialista that night has Hepatitis A. Hepatitis is a swelling of the liver and is spread primarily through food or water contaminated by stool from an infected person.
Hepatitis A is less serious than other forms of the disease, and usually gets better on its own within a few weeks. However, health officials are still recommending vaccination for anyone who may have been exposed, which is thought to be an estimated 700-800 people. In addition to the night of Kutcher's party, the infected bartender also worked on Feb. 8 and 11.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the bartender apparently picked up Hepatitis during a recent trip to Honduras, and just discovered that he had the bug.
"We're doing everything we possibly can to make sure that no one comes in contact with this virus," the club's manager told The Wall Street Journal.
