HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Clear the stage, Kanye West is coming back.
One year after he famously stole the microphone and cut off Taylor Swift's acceptance speech, the hip-hop star is returning to MTV's Video Music Awards, the network announced Thursday.
West, who has a new album dropping in the fall, will take the stage at next month's ceremony. Also lined up to perform is Canadian rapper Drake and UK indie favorite Florence + The Machine.
"Just met with MTV and it's about to go down! VMA's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" West wrote Thursday on his new Twitter page.
The first presenters confirmed for the show are Nicki Minaj, Emma Stone, Penn Badgley, Trey Songz, Selena Gomez and Ne-Yo.
Lady Gaga racked up a record 13 nominations to lead the field of contenders for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Eminem led all male artists with eight nominations, including best male video and video of the year for "Not Afraid."
