HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Jamie Foxx says he regrets the off-color remarks he made about Miley Cyrus over the weekend on his Sirius radio show.
"I so apologize to ... and this is sincere," the 41-year-old star told host Jay Leno during an appearance on Tuesday night's "Tonight Show." "I am a comedian, and you guys know that whatever I say, I don't mean any of it. And sometimes, as comedians, as we do, we go a little bit too far."
During his Sunday show, "The Foxxhole," Foxx responded to a caller by asking: "Who is Miley Cyrus? The one with all the gums? She's got to get a gum transplant!"
The "Ray" star then went on to suggest that Cyrus "make a sex tape and grow up. Get like Britney Spears and do some heroin. Do like Lindsay Lohan … and get some crack in your pipe … That's what I want."
"I have a radio show... We're really the black Howard Stern. We go at everybody," Foxx explained to Leno. "There was a situation with Miley Cyrus, and I just want to say, I apologize for what I said. I didn't mean it maliciously. You know I'm a comedian. You know my heart."
The Oscar winner then stared into the camera and said: "Miley, I apologize, so I'll call you. I got a daughter too, so I completely understand."
