HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Could Jennie Garth be returning to a familiar zip code?
That's the buzz after the 36-year-old actress abruptly left the cast of the new CBS pilot "My Best Friend's Girl." The sudden departure could signal the star reprising her role of Kelly Taylor on the CW's upcoming contemporary spinoff of "Beverly Hills, 90210," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Garth rose to fame on the hit 90's teen soap. According to the trade publication, the spinoff's executive producer, Rob Thomas, has been looking to bring Garth back to West Beverly Hills High as a fashion design teacher.
The actress, who has been dealing with the recent death of her father, left the CBS pilot Monday in a mutual decision with the show's producers. She has since been replaced by Canadian actress Kristin Booth.
The CW revealed its plans for a "90210" spinoff last month. The updated version will revolve around the Mills family of Beverly Hills. Dad (Harry) is a Beverly Hills High alum who returns from East St. Louis when his mom, a 1970's movie star, has an alcohol problem that gets out of hand. He returns to his roots with his wife, Celia, a former Olympic medalist, and his two teenage children, biological daughter Annie and adopted son Dixon.
On Monday, it was announced that actress AnnaLynne McCord had joined the cast, where she'll play one of the most popular girls at West Beverly Hills High.
